Yet another techie's blog

The rants and occassional rave of a desktop support tech workin' (if you can call it that) for the government.

Another hot and steamy week in DC

and not the good kind of steamy.
Phase 1 is nearly 69% complete. I wonder if I'll be mature and civil when I hand in my resignation. Nah. Where's the fun in that?

Phase 1: The Announcement

the vacancy has finally been announced...only took 6 months. the good news is that it has a 2 week window, so probably a month after that...freedom.
I can't wait to leave the stagnant, foul stench that is the help desk.

Happiness is a warm laptop

My overpriced, yet very sexy and powerful Alienware laptop has finally shipped. I'm so excited.
Who needs friends, family, food or anything else when you have the awesomest laptop a meager salary can buy?

a typical day

every day I am amazed. Simply, completely and totally amazed at the incompetence, stupidity and just general idiocy that surrounds my job.
We've got the dullards (who are supposed to be the first impression we give our customers - some impression) in the front who can hardly get an intelligible sentence out
There's the FL reps who think they're hot-shit because they help people log into a web page that breaks every other week. All of 'em live in complete denial that in a year or two, someone is going to figure out that all of their job can be automated by a programmer who makes 10 bucks an hour
Then we have my group. Children. That's the only way I can describe these people. Instead of being the ones who set an example and give everyone something to aspire to, they bicker, cheat and try every trick in the fucking book to get out of work. Why the hell would you spend your entire day at work trying to avoid work? It makes no fucking sense. If you don't wanna work, go home and stay there.
Then, of course, management. "Do as I say, not as I do". That would be about the best way to describe them. All 5 of them.

First of (hopefully) many blog posts...'bout time I jumped on this bandwagon

A new Rammstein album compiled from the "leftovers" of the last album (Reise, Reise) has been announced, it's slated for release this september. I can't wait.
